ORGAN SPECTACULAR VIII
Sunday, September 17th, 2023 - 2:30PM | First United Methodist Church | Directions
Kick Off our 40th Anniversary Season!
As our Organ Spectacular enters its 8th year, the Chamber Orchestra delves into the archives of some of classical music's greatest composers. Maestro Thomas weaves a tapestry of orchestral textures in his own arrangement of Pachelbel's Ciacona in F Minor, while local organist Zahari Metchkov brings a Saint-Saëns celebration of the Allied victory in World War I to life with orchestral accompaniment. No scholarly effort has been spared to bring you these incredible, rare works for orchestra and organ.
Leighton - Concerto for Organ, String Orchestra and Timpani
Saint-Saëns - Cyprès et lauriers
Pachelbel (arr. Thomas Wilson) - Ciacona in F Minor
Demessieux - Poeme for Organ and Orchestra
Vierne - IV. Allegro from Organ Symphony No. 1
