Voices of African Diaspora - Ticket (Gen. Admission - CO Springs Concert)
In keeping with its tradition of featuring under-performed works, the Chamber Orchestra explores the rich history of African-American orchestral music, often intentionally excluded from the traditional canon. This is a special, one-time performance - NOT a Subscription Series concert!
The concert begins with a gleeful, playful overture by Scott Joplin. Then, we feature the incomparable Stephanie Ann Ball, with Julia Perry’s Stabat Mater and William Grant Still’s From the Hearts of Women.
The concert also features Joseph Schwantner’s New Morning for the World, a setting some of Martin Luther King Jr.’s most compelling oratory for orchestra, and we conclude with Florence Price’s compelling arrangement of the African American spiritual My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord.
NOTE: For tickets to the Denver, CO concert, please see the King Center website, here.
